St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church, now a historical building situated on Front Street, was the first gathering place for Catholics in the Rocklin-Loomis-Penryn area. The Most Reverend Joseph Sadoc Alemany, Archbishop of San Francisco, dedicated the church on August 13, 1883. Over the years, it was designated as a mission church of Folsom, Lincoln, Auburn, and finally St. Rose of Lima, Roseville.
On May 1, 1981, a new parish in Rocklin was established with Reverend Father Michael J. Dillon as pastor. Father Dillon named the parish SS. Peter & Paul with the consensus of the 295 founding families. On April 17, 1983, the Most Reverend Francis A. Quinn, Bishop of Sacramento, officiated the groundbreaking ceremony of the new church site and returned for its dedication on March 4, 1984. The bell tower, blessed on June 1, 2009, is the welcoming icon of the parish grounds.
Over the years, SS. Peter & Paul has grown and flourished into a vibrant community with currently 2790 registered parishioners and 73 ministries.
We are grateful to God for all the blessings our parish has received in these past 40 years!
