In an effort to provide added security to our parishioners, a ministry has been formed to recognize and address any parish vulnerabilities and to work to correct them.
One goal is to provide added security to our parishioners during Mass. We are currently seeking volunteers to work with a safety coordinator at each Mass. These coordinators (and most of the volunteers) have training in Law Enforcement and/or the Medical Field.
As a volunteer, you will be part of a small team which provides additional visual surveillance and awareness during Mass. Law enforcement groups state these kind of teams provide an effective way of discouraging possible incidents as well as improve response time if action is needed.
Expectations are that these volunteers be "observant" of people's behavior while being friendly, greeting, and shaking hands, etc. If a suspicion should arise, they would have the willingness to respond appropriately. Those with the training and experience to intervene prudently and effectively to de-escalate or quickly communicate with law enforcement would be idea.
If you are interested in this ministry, please complete the form below. Your information would be given to the safety coordinator at the appropriate Mass.
Note: If you are willing to be a security coordinator (lead) at the 11:00 AM Mass, please contact Rick Nelson at rick.nelson4@gmail.com
