It takes a village to raise a child and it takes a village to do awesome youth ministry. There are so many ways we need the support of parents, adults without kids in the ministry, young adults, and teens. There are plenty of opportunities for more regular involvement, one-time involvement, and everything in between. Check out the list below and on the left for more details.
The adult volunteer interest form is at the bottom of this page.
Leadership & Volunteer Roles Descriptions
Core Team: This is our team of adult and young adult leaders who minister to our teens through primarily relational ministry as well as facilitating discussions and occasionally giving talks. There are two primary places the Core Team Members serve:
Youth Group gatherings on Sunday evenings
Small Faith Sharing Groups once a month
See page on left for details.
Servant Leadership Team for Youth: aka SLTY ("Salt"). This is our team of teens who are being formed as leaders in the Servant Leadership model. Teens develop and exercise leadership skills in the service of the Gospel mission, following Jesus' example at the Last Supper. See page on left for details.
Food & Hospitality Team: These are adults who want to support our youth ministry through one of the key components: food and hospitality. This team makes or brings food to our youth group meetings, retreats, and/or special events (e.g. overnighters). Their service allows the Core Team to focus on being present to the teens. If you are interested in joining the Food and Hospitality Team (and we do need people) or have questions, please email Nancy. Note at this time we are not offering the same kinds of things in hospitality that we do under normal circumstances so if you have ideas they are welcome!
Materials Support Team: This is a group of adults we can reach out to if we have materials we need to borrow or would benefit from having donated for our youth group meetings. For example, there might be times where we need to borrow kiddie pools for a game or Pilates balls, etc. This team would receive an email with a request to borrow or have any of these items donated from time-to-time. This helps us do cool things at youth ministry events without driving up the costs. If you'd be interested in being on the Materials Support Team and receiving occasional emails with updates on materials needs or have questions, please contact Nancy. Note at this time we are not in need of the same kinds of things that we do under normal circumstances so if you have ideas they are welcome!
Retreat Leaders: These are adults and young adults who can't volunteer at youth ministry events on a regular basis, but can commit to coming to retreat planning meetings and serving as a small group leader on retreat. Overall commitment is a handful or so of meetings over the course of a couple months, plus retreat weekend. If you're interested in being part of the Retreat Leaders Team or have questions, please email Nancy. Our retreats this year will be virtual or hybrid in nature, so please do not be afraid!
Special Events Chaperones: This is a list of adults, 21+ years-old, who we can call upon when we need adults to chaperone events such as overnighters, off-site events (e.g. ice skating), etc. You are not committing to helping at every event, but putting yourself on a list of potential future chaperones when you sign-up to be a Special Events Chaperone. If you're interested in being part of the Special Events Chaperones list or have questions, please email Nancy. Most of the events this year that are big are going to be virtual. Event Chaperones are still needed and Safe environment rules still apply so the only thing different will be the lack of driving! Please consider saying yes. Chaperones get just as much out of going as the young people do, usually even more!
Fundraising Team: We need a group of people who can help us with our various fundraising efforts. This could mean being on the Fundraising Dinner Planning Committee and/or being a lead for an ongoing fundraising event (e.g. Pancake Breakfasts). If you're interested in being part of the Fundraising Team or have questions, please email Nancy. Because of our current circumstances we are looking for creative and tech savvy people to be part of this team!
Service Outreach Team: This team is a group of adults and young adults who are able to work with the youth ministry coordinator to plan and organize various service/social justice outreach opportunities. If you're interested in being part of the Fundraising Team or have questions, please email Nancy. Our opportunities this year will be designed with all levels of comfort in mind so that everyone can participate.
Prayer Team: This is a group of people of any age who are committed to praying for our teens, leaders, and youth ministry on a regular basis. Perfect opportunity for the prayer warriors in our parish community. If you'd like to keep our youth and youth ministry in your prayers on a regular basis, please let Nancy know at [email protected] just so we can know who our prayer angels are. Do not Fear! Prayer is NOT cancelled!!!
Art & Environment Team: Where are my artistic and crafty folks at? Sometimes at youth group meetings, special events, and/or retreats, we need to put together special art and environment pieces. Whether you also want to volunteer regularly or are very limited with your time, this is a perfect role for our creative and crafty parishioners. If you're interested in being part of the Youth Ministry Art & Environment Team or have questions, please email Nancy. Some of what we do this year might involve creating items that will be delivered or picked up by families in our parking lot! Stay tuned!
Other: If none of the above speaks to you, but you really want to support the youth ministry in some way, please email Nancy. We could always use administrative volunteers, marketing help, graphic design, etc.
Note: Due to the current constraints there is not a set of guidelines in place for in person ministry so until further notice, all activities will be done on line AND projects completed from a distance!
